My Coding Standards

Highest Quality Coding

All the websites I produce are W3C compliant. The W3C is the organization that sets the worldwide standard for website design coding. Websites should always have W3C validated code as it ensures that your website renders correctly on different browsers and platforms, and it means your website is naturally search engine friendly.

White Hat Search Engine Optimisation

I refuse to use black hat SEO techniques. The use of these techniques can result in a permanent banning of a clients website from Google and other search engines, which could spell death to an online business. Clients are often unaware of the best practice guidelines and so it is important that I practice ethical coding standards at all times.

No gimmicks

Your website will have priority on organisation, ease of use and speed, over heavy visual gimmicks that often frustrate visitors. I never use Flash for major structural elements, only for subtle and tasteful design effects. I am strongly against creating “splash pages” as this wastes a visitors time and its the poorest use of prime retail space in terms of SEO.

Transparency

I only work with equally ethical, trustworthy clients in an environment of complete communicative transparency. I feel it is important to listen to my clients’ needs to fully understand their website aspirations and goals as well as to get a good feel for their personal style. I never design for my own taste, but for the target audience, and I almost always get the style right the first try. I endevour to educate my first-time website clients throughout the process. It is important to me that my clients fully understand how to use and update their websites, that they have a sense of complete independence and full control over the website after it is complete.

Client Testimonial

Sock Dreams

“I found Olivia’s portfolio to be quite impressive and I was even more impressed upon actually working with her. She is extremely professional and well organized. The results were spectacular and exceeded my expectations. I cannot say enough about how impressed I’ve been with the results. Sock Dreams is well organized and has a professional feel that has resulted in a huge increase in sales. I would recommend Olivia to anyone seeking a professionally designed site. In fact, I have already recommended her to several friends and family members.”
