Best Western SiteManager
Best Western SiteManager is a content management system that runs hundreds of hotel web sites across Europe – each with individual access for all the properties to be able to update their sites remotely. Built from scratch I - along with the development team at Designate - delivered this massive system in less than 6 months.
I designed and produced the user-friendly front-end and back-end screens for the SiteManager content management system, according to a technical spec, while working for Designate Advertising in 2003. A small team of Designate's developers worked on the back-end. I also wrote and created an easy-to-use PDF user manual aimed at non-web savvy users, which details the functionality and screens. I also lead the bug- testing and fixing stage.
The site features:
- A user-friendly, powerful bespoke CMS written in ASP.
- Generates default hotel websites from Best Western's own central brochure database.
- Ability for each hotel to manage their site remotely through the SiteManager control panel.
- Users with different levels of publishing control, giving hotel owners better control over the updating of their site.
- Functionality for each hotel to change the design theme for their site whilst ensuring the design stays within Best Western's own brand guidelines.
- Functionality to create hotel sites in multiple languages.
- Functionality for each hotel to create and send out branded e-newsletters for registered visitors through the SiteManager control panel.
